Unhappy Not good.. Tranny problems.

Ok, just today I "tried" to put my car in reverse but it didnt do anything... I gave it alittle gas but it sounded like I was in neutral.. Put it in neutral it started moving me forward.. So I cant go in reverse... sound kinda like a problem.. I can do everything else tho. I have a Automatic BTW.

Re: Not good.. Tranny problems.

It might just be the linkage. Check it out sometime or have someone look at it before you go and buy a new trans. If you're not going to check it get someone you trust to, not a shop. They would probably try to screw you over and get you to buy a new trans.

Re: Not good.. Tranny problems.

Ok, Ive heard somethings about the linkage, but im not too sure what to look for. I have a couple people say it may just be the linkage. If that is the case, how would I go about fixing it?? And is it expensive/hard??

Re: Not good.. Tranny problems.

Well if your tranny is already messed up it really can't be all that bad for it. But if it's the linkage than I see no real problem unless it breaks completely and you can't like park it at all.

Re: Not good.. Tranny problems.

How is your car set up too? Is the auto shifter on the floor or on the column?

Re: Not good.. Tranny problems.

A linkage from a dealer probably around 150 - 200 but getting one from a junkyard or scrap place 50. But the only linkage I have purchased was for a 5 speed saturn so give or take a few. Just call your local dealership and ask them for a price on it.

what makes you think you have tranny problems? your linkage is out of adjustment or messed up... guys drive like that all the time... my buddy has a '91 rs that he puts in into N to go forward, linkage is out of whack, either get a new one or try to adjust it, i wouldn't guess you have any tranny problems at all...
