abs module test ?

Hi just wondering what kind of tests can be performed to verify the abs
control module IS the culprit. I've read alot of posts on how the "ABS"
light stays on and the "Red Brake light" blinks but brakes work ok. and turns out the module is bad. My question is how can you tell ? what kind of readings am I looking for to make a technical verification ? any help would be very much appreciated..... thanks

The abs module is right next to the washer fluid resivour fill. Convienently located so that after years of adding washer fluid and it spilling onto the module it mysteriously shorts out and stops working?????!!!!!!?????!!!??!?!?!?!
