Easy RWAL question
I have a 99 4x4 with RWAL, not 4 wheel ABS. Do trucks with only RWAL also have the ABS light on the dash? I am troubleshooting a dash BRAKE light which comes on and was wondering if the ABS light should come on too or if the ABS light is only on the 4 wheel ABS trucks.
Thanks. |

Re: Easy RWAL question
Yes, you have an ABS light.
The light should illuminate when the ignition is turned on, for about 5 seconds. If it doesnt, pop the gauge cluster out and check the bulb. (WATCH THE SHIFT SELECTOR CABLE WHEN YOU PULL THE CLUSTER!! DONT RIP IT OUT!!!) If the bulb is ok, then the abs light should illuminate any time there is a problem with the ABS system, or any time the red brake warning light stays on (except with park brake application) also, pull the release on your park brake while lifting on the park brake pedal with your hand, sometimes they dont come up all the way, and the light will be on. |

Thanks for the info. I'll check the bulb so that I can have two lights on instead of just the BRAKE light. I have already checked the parking brake and the master cylinder switch and neither one is causing the light to come on. It waits until I drive it a few minutes to come on. I'm guessing it is an ABS problem, which I can get scanned but I'll see if I can get the ABS light to work to make sure.
