Re: Stupid Question

depends on the cut out diameter of the subs....i would rec. putting 12's in a box made for 10's, doin that prob. wont yield the proper air space for the subs

just because the speakers fit in the box does NOT mean the box is the correct size from them

I GOT THE SUBS TO FIT MY BOX. I TOOK THE DEMENSIONS TO CUSTOM SOUNDS AND THEY TOLD ME THESE SUBS WOULD FIT THIS BOX IF I CUT THE HOLES BIGGER.

I found out what size i need anyway.

11 1/8

Re: Stupid Question

yes, we're saying the subs will physically fit in the box, but they will sound like ass if there isn't enough airspace inside for them. 10's typically require about .7cf of airspace, 12's typically require about 1.2cf of airspace, you'll be sticking a 12 in ~.7cf of airspace and it will probably not be very happy about it.

Re: Stupid Question

Did you check this yourself or did Custom Sounds just tell you it would be fine? The salesmen at local shops couldn't recognise a properly designed box if it fell out of the sky and hit them in the face, I hope you're not trusting them in this matter.

What subs are they and what size is the box? Not that I don't believe you...it's just that I've only seen a 10 and a 12 that were supposed to use the same size box very few times, and in none of the cases were those box sizes actually optimal.

Ok i'll take your advice cause a friend told me the same thing. Turns out the box probably is too small hell I dunno.

My Box.
12 Inches Deep
28 Inches Long
14 Inches Wide

It seems the guy here at the local shop seems to think they will sound fine but I will get ya'll opinion.

My Subs

What type and size box do you suggest.

btw sorry about the yelling

Re: Stupid Question

You've got 1cf per sub available

Those subs need 2.5cf for a .707 alignment, 1cf is really pushing it and you'll get a bump in the upper bass, they would really prefer something more like 1.5cf each. It should work alright though, it's not like the .6cf per sub that I was expecting
