Can anyone help :)

Hi all..

I have a 1990 1.4GL Twin Carb Civic and I need a tiny bit of help. Now the Air intake to the carb is in the engine bay i was thinking would it be better to extend this tube to the front and have it taking in air from outside ? doing this would force more air in the faster I went. Would this be a good thing or would it do bugger all. Another reason i was thinking about doing this is because the air in the engine bay can get quite hot.

Any suggestion would be great thanks.

Also when I get a job and stop being a bum i am thinking of getting a new engine preferably a 16.i but I am not sure on what one to get, so any suggestions on that would be great too .

I'm not familiar with the airbox setup on the carbed engines, but I would think making a custom "cold air intake" system couldnt be a bad idea. If you have never seen the systems that are used on the fuel injected cars, they extend the piping and place the filter right where the stock airbox grabs air (by the battery), or a longer pipe actually extends the piping through the air cutout and places the filter in the front bumper. Upgrade your air filter too. How about a pic of your engine bay? I was wondering if it looked like my accord that was carbureted under the hood (but I dont remember what the air intake system looked like). I just remember the filter laid on top of the engine, is there another filter system too? or just an open pipe?
