Question exhaust

I have a 1998 Formula with the LS1. The car is awesome. Fast and agile as a son of gun. The stock exhaust sounds nice, but i'm looking for something very aggressive sounding (and if some more performance I won't complain). For now I only want to replace the muffler and tailpipes. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to get?

Depends on what you want I guess. I think they are one of the best, even for flow, and you can't beat the sound. If I can remember correctly I'm running the 40 series, with no tail pipes, just turn downs in front of the rear axle, and it is brutally loud. I suppose if you really want free flowing you could always cut a hole in the muffler and tear all the baffles out and then weld the hole back up.lol Most would think that's too much trouble though. As for headers I like Hooker.

Re: exhaust

Shorties are a waste of money/time on the LS1 car.
For catback....most LS1 guys try to steer clear of the Flowmasters. They don't sound that great on the LS1 cars, and they don't flow as well as most any other exhaust.

I recommend Magnaflow catback. Unless you want to drop a ton of cash, then get GMMG or Borla. GMMG is supposed to be the best sounding catback for the LS1 cars.
Headers....tons of choices here. I recommend Pacesetters for those on a budget. Best bang for buck headers for the LS1 right now. If you have the cash....Kooks or QTP longtubes. Those are top of the line for the LS1 cars.

Re: exhaust

I passed with longtubes. But you do need EGR and AIR provisions on them, along with cats.

Re: exhaust

Exactly what I said.

You have an AIR pump and an EGR system. You need to make sure you get the headers that have the provisions for both. They kinda look like little stems coming off one of the primaries on the headers.
