Starting Problem, only getting worse

I have an 88 chevy 5.7, and the thing is sometimes when i go to start it ,I turn the key and nothing happens. In the past it only did this about every other time, then it started doing it every time. But now it takes 5 to 6 trys for it to turn over. Do yall think it might be a bad starter or just a bad connection at the starter, because its fine at the battery. Its a brand new battery with 875 cold cranking amps so the battery shouldn't be a problem. I'm just worried that at this rate it one day it might not start at all , thanks

I had the same problem with my '89. Turned out being bad battery cables. This would be a good place to start.

Re: Starting Problem, only getting worse

It sounds like a dead spot in the starter. Very common GM problem. But I would check the battery cables first , remove them from the battery and clean them , reinstall them and make sure they are tight, then test the battery to make sure its good, then check the wires on the starter ,if everything checks out then replace the starter
