Re: ebay coilovers

I would assume making four coilover springs for less then 45 dollars you would be cutting a few corners. Like all the corners.

Sarcasm, where would the world be without it. Of course they are junk, and I can't belive anyone would buy them or even start a thread to ask if they are ok to buy.

Sorry man lol live and learn. They look nice though don't they?

Like that other thread says, "mod cheap, mod twice". I get impatient too when I want something, and that cheap stuff starts to look pretty good. Just keep telling myself how much it sux when I buy the cheaper version and have to redo later.

Re: ebay coilovers

What I don't get is: why is there no one filling the gap between name brand huge profit and no-name crap? You can make the exact same thing as Greddy, etc makes for half the cost and still make some profit. But they just keep making total crap and have the same profit margin as name brands it seems. An example of what I'm talking about is grocery store brands. In many cases they are actually BETTER than name brands but are less $. Why can't they make car parts like this?

Re: ebay coilovers

That is true. I want to make shit my self, materials really arent that much I dont think. My friends Megan catback has 1 fuckin bend in it, we could have made basically the same thing ourselves for like $200 compared to the ~$350 or whatever he paid for it, but we would have had to fuck around with welding and making the hangers and shit.

Yeah, but then you have $ left over for other things. I make stuff at work whenever I get the chance, like shifter bushings and motor mounts (high impact nylon is great ). I'll be making my own exhaust soon, and then who knows. The extra money I'll have saved can go toward something I can't make, like forged pistons or DSM link, or whatever.

Re: ebay coilovers

Yeah, the only problem for us is a shop. We basically have his driveway or mine to work in and the weather never cooperates with our car days. Its always cold, really hot, or raining/wet on the ground. We did his oil pan on a wet gravel driveway in a bunch of mud, it licked ass. My dad has a pretty bitchin "suitcase" welder and my friend has an angle grinder, when it comes time for my car to happen, I am definately going to make my own exhaust, ic pipes, and whatever else I can weld.
