Bought a Parts Car and can't get started
So I bought this car for the engine and a few miscellanious parts and there is a slight problem... The engine wont start... Where to start??? It turns over and sounds like it wants to start, everyonce in a while it sounds like one cylinder fired and that is it. I think it is getting fuel because you can smell it and cranking it over. What are some trouble shooting tips on this... ignition, ecu, ect.?????

fuel injectors - unbolt the Crank Angle Sensor and turn it slowly with the ignition on, if you dont hear all 6 fuel injectors firing then you have a problem. spark - try changing over the PTU with your old one, this will prevent it from starting. -compressrion - do a compression test on all cylinders - coil packs - i dont know if there is a way to test them except to test the PTU first and then check for spark again. here is a couple sites that will explain how to do alot of the things i just mentioned. http://ttzd.com http://twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/z32faq.aspx

i will try to work on that write-up for you but swapping in a Twin Turbo motor with another Twin Turbo motor is just a matter of labeling everything and then putting everything back exactly where it was on the old motor. if you need any help knowing what to remove and how to remove it and what needs unbolted...just ask away.

Try these...
First question is...what year is it? How many miles on the engine? Check your codes. They will tell you if you have something electrically wrong. A code 55 means all clear. Next, Check your vacuum lines. Listen for hissing of any sort. Check your connections for corrosion (MAS, PTU, CAS, IACV, MAF, etc.). If all these check out good, then check your compression. I assume this is an N/A engine. Your numbers should be 155 miniumum in each cylinder min. If not, you've got serious issues and should email me back. Good luck.
