87 S-10 tailgate removal

How do you remove the tailgate on a 87 S-10.

Unbolt the hinges. No quick release on those early years, which is good. They don't go missing.

I unbbolt the hinge on one side, whichever side the bolts will turn without breaking off, (careful) and pull the gate off that side, unhook the side bars and off it comes.

I have made my 1984 tailgate hinges to match the newer style. I slotted one hinge to slide on to make removal easier. I have yet to "lose" a tailgate.
