p71?
I haven't been into upgrading my '92 Grand Marquis for very long. However, i keep seeing the phrase p71. Can somebody please tell me what it stands for. Thanks for the help.

P71 is part of the vin# of police and taxi issued crown vics. Non police/ taxi crown vics will have a p74 in the vin #.

P71 is on the VIN, however it is only for the police issue cars. The taxis have a seperate number (P72 or 3 I think). Basicly to buy a NEW P71 you have to be a municipality, or an established emergency agency. It has no internal engine mods, however it has a couple of differences around the car. Biger alternator, heavy duty oil, and tranny coolers(simalar to the taxi model) and the parking brake disengages in park automaticly. they also have diffrent trannys, aluminum driveshafts, and diffrent rear ends. I think that is about it...
