Help with 1990 blazer Overheated

hello every one i was drivings my brothers blazer this afternoon... every thing was going good was running smooth then all of a sudden... when i would let go of the gass a little bit i would hear a slight sound... but when i would push on it would go away. So i pulled the car over and some smoked rised... i looked the the temp gaudge and it was at 260 highest it goes. me being dumb about cars and just getting my liscense i didnt know what to do..

So a guy pulled over had me pop the hood... a little smoked rised and the Antifreeze was boiling over... on to the ground.. my brother was missing a cap for the oil cap the guy thought it got blown off but my brother said it was always missing....

so my brother went out there 15 mins later he said the hood was still really hot burned his hand.. he said there was alot of anti freeze on the ground he got the car to turn over for a sec then it died he said. The man who gave me a lift said if the engige cracked there would be alot of oil on the ground when it was just anti freeze..... So i was woundering if any of u guys could tell me whats up before my bro gets home from work thanks for your time.

Well, if after the truck cooled down and wouldn't start afterwards, more than likely that engine has seized and needs to be replaced. If the block is cracked, that doesn't mean oil will spill out necessarily, it could be cracked on the water jacket. Also it could be as simple as a cracked head which is easily replaceable.
