This is a two part question...my 1995 Eclipse (automatic) sometimes will not change out of 1st gear. Sometimes, when going about 40 mph, it will kick back down to 1st gear. This can be resolved by turned the switch off (while still going) & back on. Then it's fine again. Sometimes it won't do it at all. What could be causing this?
The second part of my question is what if I wanted to change it over to a straight drive...what all parts would need to be purchased? (I know someone who can do the job, I just want to make sure the parts match what they say) and do you know approx how much it would cost to switch it over from auto to straight drive? Thanks |

Re: Transmission Problems!
In my first message, I explained what was happening the best way I knew how....my 1995 Eclipse (automatic) sometimes will not change out of 1st gear. The RPMs will go past 3. And sometimes, when going about 40 mph (after driving just fine) it will kick back down to 1st gear. When this happened while my boyfriend was driving it, he turned the ignition switch off (while still driving) & back on & it was fine again. Sometimes it won't do it at all. What could be causing this? I've already replaced the transmission computer (from junk yard) but also replace (brand new) the kick down switch & two other switches that costed around $100.00. I forgot what they were called. I'm afraid the transmission may be going out. If there's a chance it's something else that can be replaced, or maybe that the computer wasn't a very good one, that I purchased from the junk yard. I don't know how else to explain it. That's exactly what it's doing.
