Leyton House - which green?

Howdy all,

For those of you familiar with the Tamiya 1/20 Leyton House F1 kit, do you know what green would be an exact or very close match to the green on the car?

I've had the odd recommendation elsewhere, but so far nothing really solid to go on. So any help is much appreciated.

Cheers,
M

Finisher's makes the best color for the Leyton House green called "Leyton Green". Rainbow10, Hobbyworld, and other Japanese shops are the only place I know of to get Finisher's anymore.

Re: Leyton House - which green?

I'm not sure, but I've read in other forums that the correct is quite the same as Honda's Coral Blue.

HTH,
Pedro.

Tamiya released a spray specifically for this kit. TS-41.

Re: Leyton House - which green?

GREEN people, green!

I realise that Tamiya released TS-41 Coral Blue, and this is the main BLUE colour of the car.

There is however splashes of green on the car, e.g. the nose, engine cowl, and rear wing end-plates. It is this green I'm asking about.

tmossman - it seems there's a Finishers Leyton Blue (same as Coral Blue), but no Leyton Green unfortunately.

Thanks for the input so far guys, although I think I was misunderstood.
Can anyone help me with the specific GREEN colour on this kit?

Cheers,
M

I remember the guys at Grand Prix Models telling me that the closest colour match was actually a Lada colour! Whether it would be possible to source this vay more is anybodies guess, and I have no idea of what the colour actually was. Not sure if this helps!

Re: Leyton House - which green?

Might not be very helpful if I suggested BP green.

Just comparing it to the decals Tamiya's own X-5 Green appears to be an exact match. They only do it in acrylic or enamel unfortunately, not a laquer. Tamiya are generally good like that, matching their decals to their colour range. Makes touchup easier.

Leyton Blue = Leyton Green. My bottles have hand written stickers on them that say Leyton Green, but the Japanese translates as Leyton Blue. The color is perfect, imo.

Perfect for what? The main body of the car or the green BP logos on the nose and airbox?

Sorry, thought the question was the car not the sponsor colors. To clarify: I believe Finisher's Leyton Blue is a perfect color for the main body of the car.

The Blue of the body work is Tamiya Coral Blue,
The Green is Tamiya Park Green.

Re: Leyton House - which green?

I just brushed a sample of X-5 Green and X-28 Park Green. I found that the X-8 is actually too dark, will teach me to judge by the bottle tops. Sorry about that. On the other hand Park Green looks too light. Guess that leaves you back where you started.

Since the area that needs to be painted is so small I'd have a go at mixing a custom colour from decanted TS cans or GSI Creos lacquers. Or you could take the decals along to an automotive paint store and have them custom mix a match for you. But that is probably a case of overkill for such a small area.

Re: Leyton House - which green?

RR - I just did the same thing, and came to the same conclusion...! Cheers for the effort by the way.

I think I'll just grab a bottle of X-5 and X-28 enamel paints, and mix them together until I get as close as possible. From what I know of paint mixing, the enamel should be happy over the top of the lacquer.

If it's not, I'll soon be finding out!
