92 b250 fuel problems

please help. Our van would not start then would start then not again. Now it won't start at all. I sprayed starting fluid into the throttle body and it tried to start. Figuired a fuel problem. couldn't hear fuel pump running so dropped tank ran a hot wire to the pump it works fine. Replaced the fuel relay by the battery, still nothing. If I run a hot wire to the fuel relay the pump runs and I get fuel past the filter but van still will not start. Could I have just gotten a bad relay? Pump doesn't run when the switch is on unless I run a direct power to the one wire on the relay. Anybody have any ideas??

Re: 92 b250 fuel problems

I would think it is a spark issue. When the computer does not detect a spark, the auto shut down relay will kill power to the fuel pump. I would check the hall effect pickup coil in the distributor. You should be able to check your computer codes with the key on , off method. Turn the key to on, then off, then on then off then on and watch your check engine light, it will start to flash. Count the number of flashes followed by pauses. For example the light flashes 1 time the pause then 2 times then pause then 5 times then pause then five times , this would indicate a code 12 and a code 55. all codes are two digits. Let me know what codes you get.

and what was the diagnosis from the mechanic? I have had similar troubles with no fuel...... replaced the ECM from the junk yard and mine ran fine but then I had a shift problem 25 mph it would buck and let up on gas and it shifted then at 65 bucking again let up and it shifted.... went and exchanged the ECM at junk yard and got one that allowed the shifting issue to go away only to have the A/C kick on and off when at idle in neutral.. with it in gear the A/C would not kick on and off until I abruptly let off the gas but it was fine in gear at a stop light.... then I got home a week ago and now have no fuel again. got 2 other ECM's since from the junk yard and still nothing working for fuel. I am about to check the fuel filter and pump
