My stereo was stolen and now i have the stock wires dangling out and im trying to put in another stereo (deck) that I had in my house but the wires are all different colors for the speakers. I am able to get power to the stereo but I am unsure of which of the the stock wires are for which speakers. I was wondering if anyone knows which colors are what or just have a link that describes them.
-Thanks much. |

you could allways look in the trunk and see what color wires are attached to the rears... that way you'd only have the 4 front wires to worry about. |

Re: Stereo was stolen, need audio help
its a 97 grand am, it was just a basic stereo but that shouldnt really matter now should it since only the stock wires left?

ok... from memory and what I could see on my 96: LR= Yellow & brown RR= Both shades of Blue LF= both shades of grey RF= both shades of green I'm positive on the rears... and pretty sure on the fronts, but you might have to do some "touch and go" (pun intended ) with those. + & - doesn't matter, you'll just have to touch them together with the stereo on and playing to see which configuration sounds best. IE.. get the LR together.. then do the RR, then reverse the RR colors to see wich gives more bass (that's how you tell if the polarity is correct), then the same for the LF and then the RF or whatever order you like. this only matters if you have stock speakers... if you have aftermarket, then it's easier & more accurate to just look at which color is connected to what terminal on the speaker. Like on mine, the yellow is POS for the LR... but that's just because of how the installer wired it. As long as the Polarity is the same on the speaker as the stereo, you'll be fine.Ofcourse.... this is only IF someone else doesn't already know exactly what color means what. Good Luck... Damn thieves
