starts then shuts right off, fuel pressure?

I have an 89 f250 and everytime I try and start it it shuts right off sometimes it might run for a couple of seconds but thats it. I have replaced the fuel filter pretty recently and can hear the high pressure pump go on when I turn the key. I am pretty stumped as to what to do, any help would be awsome!

had a similar prob.was in my ignition,had a short in it when it got hot it would shut down.dont know if that is the problem or not but it is a place to look.

ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS TO CHECK.
Check for loss of spark to plugs and check fuel pressure.
Post back fuel pressure readings.
What engine? Dual fuel tanks?

Turns out that when we put a heat gun before and after both of the converters the readings were off. so what probably happened is that the o2 sensor went bad and then in turn the converters started going bad over time and finally it got to the point where the exhaust had no where to go and kept getting clogged in the engine making all of the plugs go bad as well. with all things said she is up and running better than ever. thanks

Thanks for posting the fix on it.
One thing on keeping the cats working is to keep it tuned up good and watch the fuel pressure and fuel pressure regulator.
If the engine runs rich or has a miss it will take out the cats.
