I had the same problem in mine. I started with the vaccume hoses. I found two that were cracked and changed them. I also changed the pvc and the fuel filter and the problem was solved. Hope that helps.

Re: 90 318 5.2 stalls

Gonna say dead fuel filter. Its exhibiting problems we had with a Chevy Suburban when the filter died. I'd also do the water check bit. I have the same year, make truck, and its still running the stock filter, gonna change mine out in the not too distant future here.

Yours is the 5.2 with the TBI on the top, correct? Just want to make sure, as that's the configuration on mine.

I would change the pickup coil in the distributor, same thing happened to my 88 and my Dad's 89. I replaced lots parts for nothing because the pickup coil did not produce a code in the computer. Finally it came up with "no distributor reference signal"

Re: 90 318 5.2 stalls

You probably have a vaccum leak in the intake manifold.. probably the plenum gasket.. $750 for the dealer to fix it.. $50 do it yourself.. but it takes a good weekend.
