01 going non v-tech

i am swapping in a d17a1 for my d17a2, losing v-tech. long story don't ask. my donor engine is from an auto car, my car is a manual. so i have 2 wire harnesses one v-tech manual, and a non v-tech auto. my ecm is the v-tech one. what do i need to make this car run, a new ecm or a different harness? any help is appreciated

Re: 01 going non v-tech

Would it not be cheaper to repair your D17A2? Possibly by finding a used one at the Junk Yard. It would be easier and better in the long run IMO.

Re: 01 going non v-tech

i didnt know the 7th gen's came with a vtech phone.
it might not work because you didn't pay you bills.

anyway,
this is going to take a little more than a wire harnesses to be done.

it would definatly be better just to put a manual a2
may save you time and $ in the long run.

ok ppl, i am now running the non v-tech motor, the v-tech harness, and the v-tech computer. i have a check engine light, and the car redlines at 4000 rpm. obviously the computer wants to kick the v-tech, but of course there is none. can i bypass this some way to get a higher redline? or are we still gonna need the other computer for the non v-tech? the car runs good, even though it only goes 82mph i think it is stronger than the old motor.

Re: 01 going non v-tech

if you put V-Tech one more time, nobody will ever talk to you again!!

VTECH is a phone
VTEC is variable valve timing w/ electronic lift control.....that's what you want!!
