1/18 ERTL 350z

i have a question. is the engine in the ertl 350z a plastic piece like in the jada toys, or is it a a engine block? (because i want to throw away my maisto 350z engine piece. and put in a realistic looking one) thanks.

From what I have seen on ertls is that they tend to actually make an effort to make the engine an actual block. So my guess would be that it is a block because all ertls I have seen have been blocks. Hope this helps.

Re: 1/18 ERTL 350z

Best bet for a good VQ35DE would be a Muscle Machine 350Z, it comes with turbos and an intercooler too.

do you think it would fit in the engine bay of the maisto one? im askin this because i think the musclemachine cars are kind of "larger" than normal cars. thanks.

I have the motor from the muscle machines 350z. I must say it is a little large, but it has a nice turbo set up. I reccomend getting the kit because then you don't have to take stuff apart, and it comes with 4 nos bottles as well, so its kind of an added bonus.

Re: 1/18 ERTL 350z

Muscle Machines run an average of $18-$22, but it's worth it IMO, even if you don't like the cars they offer, the parts and accesories they have is well worth it, Turbos, Intercoolers, BOV's, Motors, Wheels, Gauges, Seats, Speakers/Amps, Wings, and Body Kits you could use to make a nice mutt kit. Not to mention headlamps and taillamps and clips for people who do what I do and make some nice conversions.

Yeah, it's a MM motor and turbos, and styrene tubing for the piping.
