Abs
My ABS light recently started coming on and going back off again. This is in conjunction with the brakes acting wonky. By wonky I mean that the car feels as if it is sliding when I brake, (sometimes). It makes the noise as if the ABS kicks in and feels like a rock on the pedal and then it will click down and the brake pedal goes the rest of the way down. My mechanic looked at it the other day but he didn't find what was going wrong. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am not a mechanic nor do I know a lot of the terminology but I can pass the advice on to my mechanic. Thanks.

Re: Abs
Most likely you have a WSS dropping out during low speeds...because of this, the ABS module thinks the wheel is sliding and initiates an ABS event.
I would check for codes and check the resistance of the WSS and for AC voltage output.

Also just check to make sure there is no debri between the sensor and the wheel assembly. Sometimes the sensor will attract some rusted metal, or metal shavings or some dirt can get caught inbetween the sensor and wheel assembly and play havoc with the sensor. I used some strips of a rag and wetted them down with some break cleaner and placed them on the wheel assembly. Then I turned the wheel assmebly so the rag went under the sensor to clear out any debri.

I am also getting a low speed ABS activation, however it is only during low speed RIGHT hand turns, whether I am applying the brakes or just coasting. Frequently the ABS light will come on after that and it will not happen again until after the system resets itself and the light goes off.
Is there a way to deactivate the ABS system without affecting any other vehicle systems? Thanks. |

Re: Abs
Aslo have the same problem however my front drivers side brake is sticking, could the cause the activation at low speeds, since the brake is sticking causing the tire to go a a lower speed then the other, and the truck thinking it is sliding. If so should I just replace the caliper or just the VSS?
