Hypertechs won't give you much. About 10 horsepower. This guy does the best PCM tuning. Claims and many people back him up - 25-35 HP gain on the 5.3 and about 40HP on the 6.0.

Well, my guess would be 25 + but you can speak to Lyndon at Wester's personally. It'll be better than a Hypertech. Hypertech is a toy.

I have heard that the Diablo Programmer is the best on the market because they offer more options ...

Re: Hypertech.....wow

Former Hypertech owner here...

Can't speak for the 5.7s or 6.0s, but for the 5.3s, one will not squeeze much more horses. Changing and firming up the shift points will let to gain more response during shifting by eliminating the smooth lag between gears. TSL elimination is nice if you're runnin' on the track.

IMHO... Best bang for your buck (for better performance) would be a custom tune.

Best handheld one? Perhaps. Best "programmer" at getting the most performance out of your PCM? Many folks will probably beg to differ...not unless you claim that the Diablo can do everything that a tool like LS1edit, HPTuners or similar can do--and yes, tools like those aren't for the faint of heart as far as PCM programming goes...but they offer way more customization than just about any handheld programmer--even one as good as the Diablo Predator--currently offers.

Re: Hypertech.....wow

I have 2002 gmc sierra 5.3 I have the hypertech programmer I think that it is way overpriced the only satisfaction that I get is being able to go over 100 mph, and that is fine but I don't think it's worth 350.00.

Re: Re: Hypertech.....wow

Have you made any attempts to find out this info on your own ? There is a world of info out there. There are nice gains in ANY custom PCM tune or dyno tune. Much more than a Hypercrap. I don't own a 5.7 so I really never seek info on that engine. But from surfing around I have seen threads where the 5.7 was brought to life with a tune. I gave you Wester's. Try WaitForMe tunes. PCMforLess tunes. Allan Nelson tunes. Call these pros up and ask them directly. That's the way I'd go about it.

I do smell a sals rep. I deal with drug reps all the time, and i tell them to get the HELL out of Pharmacy or i will have the VA police remove them! If iwas doing all the preformance upgrade, i would not to a re-programer, i would go with a new preformance ecu all together. Just my opinion.

Re: Hypertech.....wow

By reading some posts it seems that maybe some of you believe that i am a sales rep or hopefully i'm reading it wrong. I'm jus a plain ole yukon owner that bought a hypertech on ebay and enjoyed the results and wanted 2 share it with the board..I wish i was a sales rep maybe i'd be a millionaire by now....
