My 2000 Taurus has ABS and BRAKE warning lights on. It ran down the battery. I jumped it and ran for awhile. I shut it down and noticed a motor noise under the hood. I thought it was the electric fans, but it appears to be the ABS unit that is under the battery. I unplugged the fuse and the noise stopped. Is this a known problem? Am I hosed and have to take it to the dealer? Anybody have experience in this area? Thanks in advance for any information.

While I can't help you with the ABS problem, I say that if you know how to use the brakes properly (and not just mash-the-brakes-and-the-car-stops use them, but closer to "performance driving" know how to use them), I would just take the ABS unit out if it isn't too much trouble and just use the regular brakes. ...and besides, you can do some neat tricks without ABS too!
