VR4 vs. SiR

Hey everyone, it's been forever. I just haven't been online in a long time. Anyway, I wanted to share a little race I had last evening. I was coming home in the '93 VR4 and I noticed a set of white headlights getting very close to me. I stopped at a red and I could hear the guy revving. It was obviously a Civic of some sort, silver. I took off quickly and the guy shot up on my rear, acting as if he was going to pass me over the yellow line. I came to a light close to the highway I was going to get on and by that time, looking many times in my mirror, I realized it was a silver SiR (Canada) I have seen around. I opened my door and the guy was smiling and giving me thumbs up. I pointed to the highway and he nodded.

I remained in 2nd gear while getting on the highway and let him come up beside me, all the while still giving me thumbs up. That's when I verified it was the car I thought it was...a nice, clean 99/00 SiR with no wing, exhaust and probably a couple minor tweaks, nothing much. He sat beside me and instead of doing the 1-2-3 thing, I just pointed ahead for whenever he was ready. Traffic was extremely light. I was sitting at about 5500 in 2nd gear and he hit it. Nice little jump for that car, I must say. In the one second it took to be at my redline, I stopped his pull. I hit third and he held me off for 2 or 3 seconds, and that was followed by me going by him very quickly. I would say around 85ish mph is where I flew by. I went to the end of third (approx. 125) and shut it down like 10 lengths in front of him. He eventually went by and gave me a friendly honk, just a guy having some fun.

I wish the guy would have hung around and stopped so I could have told him my first car ever was a 2000 silver SiR. Oh well, I will see him again. Anyway guys, I'll try to post more often, hopefully some better runs. All the best.

Oh yeah, I had an anniversary edition (the yellow one) WS6 pace me for a bit the other day on the highway. Nothing became of it because it was just a bit wet, but nice to have him stick around anyway. Yeah yeah, I know, that would be a losing cause...but a fun one anyway!

Nice run and thank you so much for making it to where my eyes didn't catch on fire! My buddy just sold his ragged out vr4, and a few days later came home with a super clean Dodge Stealth twin turbo. He's already done a few little tweaks here and there(upgraded Bovs and turbo controller). He was having trouble with blowing the intake tube off with the boost up(owned by a $.50 clamp), but I think he's finally solved that problem. He's really enjoying his new car, but he loved the VR4.

Yeah young, I read that you're rebuilding in the 3000GT section. Sorry to hear about that man, all the best with it.

Re: VR4 vs. SiR

Hey boosted, long time no see. Nice kill, although it was definantly a one-sided race. Too bad the ws6 and you couldn't go at it. But don't give up on them. I hate that everyone automatically thinks it's a losing battle against an ls1. I've actually beaten 1, and held quite a few off up to mid-third. They make for some great races, and with a few mods...who knows. Anyway, nice kill.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.
