Help! Help! 99 HL Dimmer switch Replacement

Hello all,

My right lowbeam flickers off and on. I would swear that the problem is in the stalk dimmer switch. It seems that when I wiggle it, the light comes on sometimes. Could this be correct and not effect the left lowbeam light? So...I have 2 questions, one is do any guru's out there think it could be the dimmer switch, and two, what does it take to replace that switch?? Thanks for the help....dave

Look at a wiring diagram for your vehicle and see if the stalk switch has separate contacts for each headlight. Check and make sure the plug to the switch is not loose. The stalk switch going bad is a common problem. Autozone.com may have some technical pages that may provide some help.

Dave, the headlamp switch on the steering column comes off like this.
1.remove the steering shroud trim.
2. disconnect your battery both sides. Wait 5 minutes.
3. remove the air bag -two bolts either side of the steering wheel
4. remove the steering wheel
5. remove the turn signal switch/headlamp switch assembly.
6.reassemble in reverse order.

Dave if your headlamp is flickering is probably just the bulb.
