Big Transmission Problem on 1994 accord

I have a 1994 honda accord. The car has 86,000 miles but i guess the tranny went bad. It had an unoticed leak and somewhat dried up. The car shifts normal but it wont accelerate on regular drive as it should. Instead the car revs up but doesnt really move. Eventually it gains speed and drives as if normal. In drive 1 or 2 it accelerates normal as if there are no problems, but from drive 3 or regular drive it just wont accelerate it just revs up and barely moves. I have tried starting it off from drive 1 and switching to drive at about 40 mph or 3 rpm and it seems to drives fine until i stop or slow down to anything under 40 mph.
Although i have filled it up with tranny fluid it still does the same. I was wondering if anyone could help me. The car still drives as i do use it everyday. I just have to shift to regular drive from 1 at certain speeds. Would i need a whole new transmission? Or is there any parts or ideas that i can troubleshoot with to see if i can save any money?
Thank You For Your Time

Sounds like maybe you cooked the valve body, and it is sticking, so it it won't allow those upshifts unless you do it manually.

I'd drain the pan, add Seafoam tranny conditioner or some Trans-X and drive it a couple hundred miles and see if there is any improvement before going to a tranny shop.

I would need to add new tranny fluid as well too, right? Or just use one of those two? And which would you recomend will probably work best?
Thanks Alot

Yeah, use the whole container of treatment, then fill with new fluid. I think you have a drainbolt on your tranny pan so you don't have to do a pan drop.

From what I remember, Hondas don't have a lot of fluid in the pan, like 2.5-3 qts, I think.

Either product is good, I've had good results with both.

Fill it to the bottom of the full range, run the shifter through all gear ranges several times, check the level again, then drive it around the block a few times 'till engine temp is normal, and check it again.

I fill to the low full mark first, and top off after warming it up fully. You don't want to overfill, and the fluid level will rise as the temp comes up. Overfilling will cause fluid frothing problems.

You are checking it running, right?

Is your D4 of S led on your dash stays on?

Your symptom seems like a TCM issue. If your car still runs good at high speed and manual shift works fine, the tranny is good mechanically.

Yes it does have a bolt and for the tcm im not really sure. I will check for the S but would letting the tranny dry out really mess up the tcm? The tcm is the computer right? I also do check it when the engine has been warmed up. And when i refill it should i run it through the gears a couple of times with the car turned on or with the car turned off before i drive it around a little?

Put in your treatment and 1 qt of fluid, then start it up. Run through the ranges and check again. Keep adding until you show at about the low point of the full range on the stick. Drive it around to warm it up good, then recheck running and add if needed.
