MkIII tail light swap
Yes i finally got me a MkIII after a long wait my buddies pitched in and got me one for my birthday(great body engine needs work but i love it) my question is will the taillights from a 91-92 fit right onto my 86.5??? and if so can i exclude the center light and just use the other two or does it need to fit togethor to fit properly?

They will work and plug up just fine but I seem to recall that you need to drill two holes for extra studs on the 89+ lights. Also you HAVE to use all three pieces if you do the swap, that's the whole point is to have the bar style tail lights over the square lego lights. Don't forget that if you put them on you might want to find a set of 89+ trim also. Few things stick out worse than all -88 body trim with one small section of 89+ trim under the liscense plate.

Re: MkIII tail light swap
also save yourself the trouble and get new tail light gaskets from toyota. it won't be too hard to drill the 2 holes. there in an easy flat place.

Re: MkIII tail light swap
Amen to that, $14 per gasket IIRC. Swimming pool in the hatch is not cool, I had that mod for a while.
