Question simple trans question

Im lookin for a FWD trans for my 2G GST and was wondering if the trans from the 2g's and 1g's are interchangeble?

i believe that you can put a 2g tranny in a 1g but not a 1g tranny in a 2g. it has something to do with the mounts and what not. the internals are the same though i believe.
