do they sell aftermarket t-tops
i have a 1988 monte carlo ss. it doesn't have t-tops. i was wondering if they sell a kit with everything you need to install t-tops(weather striping, latches, glass, and any thing else that i would need)
if so, where could i find a kit like that? |

Re: do they sell aftermarket t-tops
By far your easiest route is to find a donor T-top equipped car (82(?) -88 MC, Grand Prix, regal or Cutlass) and cut the entire roof off. Cut your roof off and swap them. This requires advanced MIG welding and bodywork skills.
The problem here ias the roof structure. Almost all of the strength of your roof is in the 2 side rails above the doors. A big hole in the middle, like a sunroof has almost no effect on roof strength. If you cut your roof to fit T-tops, you would cut out all the strength of the roof so your car chasis would flex and squirm more. The T-tops would have virtually no support. A factory T roof has lots of bracing down the middle to keep things together. IMO if swapping the roofs is too much trouble, just install the biggest aftermarket sunroof you can find. In the long run, it will feel about the same, and some of the more expensive power sunroof kits are very nice and much more conveniant than T-tops. |
