Gm optima/Pontiac Lemans computer question

I am having problems with an 89 gm optima (same as lemans) i can get it to start and idle but out of no where the injector will open up and just flood the motor and it will almost instantly die. From what i have been told it is the map sensor (computer) i was going to replace it but i would like to try and reset it first. My problem is that i cannot find any manuals for it.

So any one no how to reset it ??

I can't tell from your post whether you know this or not: the map sensor and the computer are not the same thing...

To reset the computer, it is usually sufficient to unplug the battery (-) cable for a minute with the car off.

I've never heard of anyone "resetting" a map sensor.
