A/C out on my 98

My a/c is out but in an odd way. Air will blow down at my feet and not switch up to the top vents or to the defroster. Also the orange little light will not come on. It only blows air and not cold air. Any Ideas? I am thinking replace the head control unit. Thats my idea.

I'd say you're heading in the right direction. I've only had to replace mine once and it's a 93, but that corrected the issue.
