Advice please

Hello i'm new to the forum. I was wondering which engine is better: the 4age 18valve or 20 valve. i heard somewhere that the 20valve engine response is not as quick as the 18 so i would like some help. I'm building a Corolla and i want to put in a 4age engine so i was wondring if any body had any thoughts

20V > 16V

... there is no 18 valve, unless you have a 2 valve broken on a 20V

Stock vs stock, the 20v is superior even off idle. If you're going to build the engine to 230+ hp the 16v is better; largely because tuners are more familiar with it. While this isn't true for all engines (and perhaps not true for the 4A), 16v is usually better for racing apps. The 5v/cyl improves drivability, generally speaking.
