Just an update and some thoughts

I have been thinking about the Super Z and the Vh45 Z both are a bit out of my range at this time so they have been shelved till I have time and a place to do them. But I have looked into a VQ35DE-TT swap. Pros of such swap would be I could make more power out of a lighter engine that still has the full support of Nissan. Unfortantly a sad fact was brought to my attention about the VG30DE, it is no longer in production as the work horse of Nissan therefore parts are going to become harder and harder to find. So Why not now attempt something different that will runn about the same as a simmaler project VG30DETT swap on my car. I dont have huge goals just a simple 500HP VQ35DE with a Twin turbo kit and its internals built up and compression dropped to 8.5:1 from its stock 10.5:1.

I am looking at a easy 10k for this project but thats a hell of alot cheaper than the 15k I have been looking at on the others

the 350Z's compression ratio is only 10.3:1 but i see your point.

is a VQ35DE motor out of a 350Z going to be that easy to source for the money you are talking?

engine, tranny, ECU, blah, blah, Twin Turbo Kit???? all for $10k?

those twin turbo kits are running $6k+ and i doubt you would be able to build a bran new one for any much cheaper.

well good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Just an update and some thoughts

that would be nice swap putting the VQ into a Z32. but like k3 said, i think it would be a little over $10k to do, plus lots of fabrication.

would be pretty sweet to see as long as you got rid of that goofy looking intake manifold/cover... i really don't like the look of that thing... i wonder if you would have to modify the tt kit in order to make it fit in the z32 engine bay...

Re: Just an update and some thoughts

i wouldnt think you would have to modify the TT kit to fit in the Z32 engine bay that much, i mean, the TT kit for the VQ has the turbos sitting in the same spot as they are on the VG, so it couldnt be *too* much different.

it might be cheaper to (if it's possible to) make your own TT kit... I'm sure it won't cost 6K... maybe it will, jeez I dunnno man, but good luck!

Re: Just an update and some thoughts

K3 your right about the 10K part. But I can get a VQ35DE for with tranny and ecu and harness for about 5500. I am sure if I hunt around or haggle hard enough I am sure I can get a TT kit for the VQ35DE for less that 6k or pretty damn close to it.

I am still tring to find information on how much the VG30DE weighs and the VQ35DE weighs. This way I can start figuring how much I will have to change the front spring rates to make up for the difference.

Its amazing how many VQ35DEs are sitting around at a few shops.
Heck even a VQ35DE out of a G35 four door will do if you can get the ecu and a few other things from a G35 coupe or Z33.

But after all these are just ravings from a mad man.
