I got 146k on my SOHC... and it still runs strong... tranny had to be rebuilt... but that's b/c I picked up a hood ornament (deer)... other than that car runs out great... I work for a used car lot... so I went down to a sale the other day.. saw a 92 3000GT with 340k miles on it... it was still in great condition... especially considering the mileage... went for $3000.... that's crazy to me...

Re: life expectancy of a 3000GT VR4

depends on way too many factors: maintenance records, how hard its driven, weather, etc etc. but many VR4s have gone 200k + miles.

yeah, I'm sure mine wasn't driven easy before I got it... when I bought it... there's a complete custom mandrel-bent exhaust (3-inch dual on SOHC)... and wiring for an amp... and stage 3 clutch... all the little performance mods had been stripped and replaced with the stock components... and I'm not saying I drove it easy either... I think the fastest I ever had it to was 145...

Re: life expectancy of a 3000GT VR4

hey, if your motivated, have a little extra cash, and a little mechanical savvy, you can make it last forever lol. thats my mindstate anyway. Thats the best thing about cars, theres NOTHING that cant be fixed or replaced....just dont wreck it!

Re: life expectancy of a 3000GT VR4

Wouldn't expect it to go past 180k, unless its been absolutely meticulously maintained and babied it's whole life, like most spyder's probably are. Do a compression test, gives a good life expectancy.

i have a '93 with 150,000 on it. compression on all cylinders is between 58 and 61 (or 158 and 161, whichever is more realistic, i dont recall if it was hundred or not)

Re: life expectancy of a 3000GT VR4

it must be 158-161 that you intend to say. that is IF your car is healthy.

I have 165k on mine, needs spark plugs, oil leak fixed, and 2nd gear fixed. Other than that, it runs great.
