radiator

I was under my car the other day searching for any leaks and i noticed two pipes hanging way too low to the ground. i found that the two pipes meet and then they dont connect to anyhting. i was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this or if they know a site where i can see a blue print to see how i can fix it thank you.

Re: radiator

Could you describe the locations of the two "pipes." Maybe post a photo of them, as well as list what year your Taurus is and what engine it has.

There will be a drain for the evaporator core exiting the firewall, and that drain may have a "pipe" connected to it to direct the water from condensation to the road.

There also may be a drain for the coolant overflow tank that uses a hose to direct the coolant to the road.

The two "pipes" could be old vacuum hoses/lines that were replaced and accidently dropped but didn't make it to the ground. The technician may not have been able to find them, but they have now made their way to the bottom of the engine compartment and are now hanging below the engine.

I'm sure there are other possible explanations too. We'll need more details to really come up with anything likely to solve your concern.

Re: radiator

I dont have a camera right now because it's broken. the pipes arent rubber hoses they are metal and the come from the side of the radiator then go down but they come together with a fitting in the end and it looks to me as though it should be connected to something. i will try to find a camera soon. thx guys. its a 93 ford taurus v6 3.0

Re: radiator

Sounds like they are the transmission cooler lines that go between the radiator and the transmission.

Re: radiator

I think they might be the lines for my automatic transaxil. i bought the shop book for my car but it doesnt exactly point it out. could that cause my engine to smoke?

Re: radiator

If oil is leaking from somewhere in the engine compartment and getting onto the hot engine, it will smoke while it is burning off.

Re: radiator

someone told me that but i cant tell where exactly the smoke is coming from. it looks to be from under the engine somewhere and i see smoke from the front and back. but usually when oil burns it is a very strong smell. this just simply smells like smoke i cant really smell the oil. I have to reattach some hoses from my radiator then see what happens.
