peugeot 306 1993 4.1 engine oil leak

I have just brought a car which has done 117000 mile and now the engine has statted to leak oil. The oil is coming from the bottom of the engine and not from a part. Its seems to be coming directly from the bottom of the engine from the middle of two blocks of metal which meet. The car is a peugeot 306 1.4 petrol 5 dr hatchback, K reg. can any one tell me what it might be and how i can fix it?
p.s i dont think the car has ever been serviced.

Ouch sounds bad m8, My 1.4 has done 140,000 miles on a M 1995 plate. Its been sound tho, just done headgasket, cam belt, ecu checked and a service because it also had no history. for sale at £550 now.
