master cylinder

ok i bought a new master clutch cylinder... and well i cant exactly get to the top bolt on the cylinder inside the cab, how the hell am i supposed to get to this damn bolt? theres a lil thing that a plug plugs into, i unplugged it, and pulled on this like clip thin that was holdin it in, and the whole black thing moves, now my new master cylinder came with a new push rod and all that stuff, shouldnt the old push rod slide out? caz if i cant get that out of the way...... fingers crossed... theres a chance that i could get to the top bolt.

its an 88 f-150 5.0 302 5spd.
please help me. its my only transportation.....

We are working on the same problem right now. We ended up lowering the stearing colum to get to the top bolt. you have to pop of a dash piece and take out two bolts on the underside and it will just drop down. Then we used a bunch of extensions and a swivel to get to the top bolt. now we are trying to figure out how to get the rod out of the cylinder without damageing that switch. if you have figured it please let me know

Turns out you dont have to remove the rod to take off the black switch. it splits down the center and you take it apart. I had the guys at the ford dealership show me how to do it. it was simple. all we have left is to bleed the system. once we figure that out i will post what we find. Im waiting untill this weekend when i can get someone to help me.
