location of fuel filter??????

Hi all, I know this may sound like a stupid question, I havn't llooked for it yet myself, but I'm assuming its under the driverside doors. Is that correct? I plan on changing it tomorrow, so if someone would let me know where it is before then, that would be great. BTW, its a 1995 GMC Jimmy SLT, 4.3L V6, 4 Door 4x4. Thank you. Also, I know the pump builds up pressure to 60 psi I believe, being a vortec, so I should relieve that pressure before I go to remove the old filter to avoid being blinded by a stream of gas. Is there a certain method i should use to do this? Does it have a fuel port on the cpi somewhere like my lumina's 3100 V6 has on its fuel rail? Thank you.

Re: location of fuel filter??????

The fuel filter is in the driver side frame rail, in front of the tank, just about right under where your butt would be in the seat. You can relieve the pressure at the shrader valve if you would like (make sure you do it with the engine cool and several shop towels around the valve to soak up the fuel) or you can just loosen the connections slowly when removing the old filter and allow the pressure to bleed that way.

Re: location of fuel filter??????

It's at the back of the intake, it looks like a large tire valve with a black cap on it.

nope.

I've had some pretty good offers for it, but I'm not selling. When I decided that I wanted one I spent six months looking for the right one. Mine is a green/gray 96, I plan on buying a black 94 (only color they made that year) and a dark cherry 95. Then I will have one of every year and color.

Re: location of fuel filter??????

did you hear that the 2005 Impala ss's have dropped the supercharged 3.8 V6's, and now come with a factory 300 horse small block V8 in them? I have to get me one of those.

Re: location of fuel filter??????

Yeah they're starting for the 06 models with a 303 horsepower 5.3l, that SOB is gonna be awesome. It's suppose to be the fastest Impala ever. I just wish it wasn't fwd.
