Re: suburban light conversion

Off the top of my head,I think that if you remove the wire from the brake light switch that feeds the turn signal switch, this would give you only turn signals in their present location. To convert the reverse lights to act as turn signal, you may be able to change the location of the wire at the tail light wiring harness plug. You must ensure that you remove the reverse wire from the plug so it is no longer connected to the reverse lights.Since the original reverse lights are connected in parallel, you would have to separate these wires to operate independently and be connected to the yellow(left turn) and green(right turn) wires in the tail light harness.I think that is the proper colour codes for the wires? You then would have to run a wire from the brake light switch to then feed the original turn/brake lights to operate as just brake lights. These wires were separate circuits,so you will then have to connect them in parallel. This should work as just brake lights. If a reverse light is required, you will still have the original wire to connect the light to.Disconnect the brake light switch first and make sure the turn signals still work.I think this should work, but I have never put this theory into practice.I know that there are converter kits that will convert the two light brake/turn signals to the one light, but I don't know if there are kits that go the opposite way.I hope I have been able to you.

Re: suburban light conversion

I forgot to mention about the upper brake light.I'm not sure if yours has it or if it is a requirement overseas, but it works only when the brake pedal is depressed. You may have to rewire that light into the conversion.I suspect it will get its power through the turn signal switch once the brake switch circuit is closed.
