Race.. can i win?

Im putting my wallet in your hands.. haha

My friend has a friend that wants to race me for 100$, Do you think i have a chance?
He has a mid 90's Civic coupe Automatic.. 93-98 i think in that erra
Mods: Intake, Exhaust
I have a 90 gtx..2.2l 5s-fe 5spd, its ALL bone stock.

Thats all i know about his car, He wants to race on the highway so i guess a roll start of somewhere between 35-50 is how we will start.

Re: Race.. can i win?

lol, I bet I could out run a civic auto with my own two legs, those things are pathetic imo. Anything that can't beat a V6 stang auto is friggen slow.

Yea I'd definitly go for it. I've got a weak azz 2selc(sohc) w\ about maybe 110-115 HP. (Thats a rough guess-timate). All I have is an intake and exhaust and my timing slightly advanced and I haven't met a civic that I don't kill when they try and rev on me. LOL

Weak azz hondas. All show & no go.

Re: Race.. can i win?

Strip the hell outta your car but to where he cannot really tell. Take your spare out, all runk panelling and the jack. Anything you do not need. You will win but every extra bit helps. Also I would try the resistor mod and see if you get more speed and if so, do it before the race and change it back after. The 2.2k resistor plugs into the harness that your AIT sensor used to plug into. You could also show up to the race without your car hood, because that will drop like 40 lbs and keep the engine slightly cooler. Good luck

Re: Race.. can i win?

The resistor mod means you go to radioshack and buy a 2.2k ohm resistor. The guys there will know what it is. You unplug your AIT sensor from your intake. It will have two wires running to it. Then you plug each end of the resistor into the harness making sure it touches the metal. It can give some more hp sometimes. I would recommend it only for racing, not for long term as it can bring the gas mileage down sometimes. Depends on how you drive. If you go on ebay and see the $7-$28 speedchips, this is what it is. A .20 cent resistor. Give it a try but only use it if you need power...if it gives you any.

Re: Race.. can i win?

We went from a 45 mph roll start by my choice..That way i could stay in 3rd and i was pushing 3000 rpms..
By the time i hit 5th on the highway he was probably 6-10 car lengths behind me and i wasnt givin it all the gas in 5th... so i killed him and still had room to push the engine a little.

hell yeah good job dude!! Next time u should try from a dead stop.
5 speeds are great for racing. Much more control than an auto. U should post a pic of your car cuz I've never seen or heard of a GTX.
