HELP!! 94 trans in a 97

Has anyone done this, i know that the ecu's are different, there are two sensors (one for speed, and one for crank angle) that are supposed to go to the trans, but only 1 port on the older trannys. I hear it will work anyway, can you just leave it disconnected....has anyone done this?

Re: HELP!! 94 trans in a 97

The Crankshaft Position Sensor is only used to diagnose engine miss-fire. Without the CPS your 97 ECU will set a code and turn your Check Engine Light on. Many emissions inspections presently check for codes and correct ECU. New Jersey is one of those states. States that are not currently performing this inspection may change to include checking for codes in the future. If your asking, "will the transmission shift?" The answer most likely is yes. I know that for myself, since I plan to re-register my Altima, the answer would be no, it just won't work. Putting a 97 trans in a 94 Altima would work.

Re: HELP!! 94 trans in a 97

Yeah i just put the 94 se limited slip transmission in my 95, no wonder i couldn't find where the hell that sensor went, i didn't have n e problems untill now 4 months later, the car is missfiring now and won't idle right it just goes dead, but also the head gasket just went because some air got into my radiator and I wasent paying n e attetion to the temperture gauge, when it was getting hotter, That damn needle was off the mothaf*ckin charts, thats when u know, damn im F*cked, then the car start to shake and Sh*t and then u open up ur hood and take that radiator cap off and theres an eruption of steam, yeah that sucks but as far as the sensor goes, im just going to replace my distributor again and that should work, but i really dont know, just guess's and false hopes..LOL...Peace
