1997 JGC - can't disarm alarm, won't start

I can't seem to disarm the car alarm and the vehicle won't start. Before when this happened, I would just stick the key in the drivers side door and turn it. Now, that doesn't work and nothing I do can seem to disarm it. How do you turn off the alarm so that you can start the vehicle????

HAVE YOU GOTTEN ANY ANSWERS FROM ANYONE. I'M NEW AT THIS. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MINE. PLEASE HELP.....

No I haven't gotten any replies. At this point, I will be taking the vehicle to a dealer/service center this weekend, because I don't have any other alternatives. I've talked with a few folks, to include the local auto repair shop, and AAA, and they all recommend that I take it in to the dealer.

try to unlock the passengerside door or even the liftgate door (hatch). I have this problem everyonce in awhile when I unlock my passengerdoor it doesn't disarm the alarm and when I open it it goes off and I have to try to unlock a different door.

I tried this. The key would not turn in the passenger side door, and I could not even get the key into the liftgate of the trunk. Just overall a bad situation and extremely frustrating.

Before getting Raped at the Dealer Try what 81 said and since you cant get the door lock to unlock take off the door pannel and move the door lock linkage manually with the Key in the lock, should have the same results.

Turn the key in the Driver's side lock 3 times to the left, 3 times to the right, 3 times to the left, in quick succession, it will disengage the factory alarm and allow the vehicle to start. This behaavior will occur if you lock the doors before closing the drivers side door. Hope this helps!!

i just fixed the same problem but i had to replace the key switches inside the door and now it starts every time. i did use the rear hatch to disable the alarm tho

I tried that on mine, but that did not work... not in any door or the hatch. It sucked.
