exhaust cutout?

Well, I like being obnoxious and the like to some, not all people(flame suit on), so, what about an exhaust cutout on my '98 TJ SE? Not that it will have a full throaty sound, but I think it will still be funny. Heck, straight pipes on a 4 cylinder are funny. (Yeah, dont ask, some nut did that to a Ford 4 cylindere here) Anyway, what is the TJ SE w/ a 4 cyl.'s exhaust size? Where would putting the cut out be the most efficient? I'm assuming after the cat, as that way I dont throw an o2 error code or run too rich. Heck, its already rich enough that after 200 miles, the exhaust pipe is black 4 inches from the tip on the outside... So, where would be the best place to put it? It would of course be plugged except in a few interesting situations, and tightly at that, so as to keep mud and water and the like out...

Re: exhaust cutout?

Well anyone with a neon with with aftermarket parts on it is funny to me. Any 4 door made to look like a racer is even funnier. However if you want a full bodied sound, they sell a diverter that installs inline on the pipes close to the manifold. It would sound as normal as ever with it in one position, flip the switch and you got a diverter to make your 4cyl sound like a harley davidson on steriods. What you should do is make a big rig exhaust coming up by the door hinges, would look awesome for Mudding or Bogging

Re: exhaust cutout?

Ugh, should've told you, its a '98 SE, so it has the old AMC I4 2.5L not the newer Chrysler 2.4L in the Neons, PT Cruisers, and newer Wranglers. The only problem with things like that, is will it interfere with the o2 sensor readings in any manner?
