So i'm debating on getting a 99 Gran Prix GT.
This thing is NICE! I'm in love with it and have a loan approved and everything, but i just found out that the REAR OIL MAIN is shot, how big of a problem and how much would that run me? Also any other main problems with this year would be a plus! Thanks guys

Re: Need help (99 GT)
are you buying the car from a dealer or private person?

Re: Need help (99 GT)
Depending on the mileage and options, $4000 is a great deal. Replacing the rear main is a MAJOR job. IT will require removal of the transaxle to gain access. If you can't do it yourself, expect a $600 or bigger bill.

Re: Need help (99 GT)
If i pay more than $1000 for a car i try to make sure it has no problems....If the car is as nice as you say, it still may be a gamble. There may be more problems that are not so obvious. There is nothing worse than having car payments that outlast your car...
