Question Amsoil

I've got a 1990 GMC Sierra 3/4 ton 2 wheel drive pickup, and have heard a lot of talk about Amsoil. Does anyone out there with a chevy use Amsoil? If so, what do you think?

I think if you put it in your truck it will start leaking oil. 100% synthetic is best used in new motors in cold climates in my opinion. In my years of searching for the best, I found Lubrication Engineers "LE" oils and greases are the best. Find a rep. in your area and talk to him...

Re: Amsoil

Amsoil Is a very good oil. I use it in my taurus and my wifes neon. I decided against it in my 92 k1500. With 185kmi, it would risk cleaning some sludge that is keeping my seals sealed. I did go to Valvoline maxlife synthetic 5w-30 due to oil consumption ( its supposed to condition dried seals). I'll be damned if it cut down the oil consumption almost to nothing. My valve stem seals were leaking and i had oil smoke on startup. After a few hundred miles, no smoke, and almost no consuption ( down from almost a quart every 1000mi) Depening on the engine mileage you may want to go this route. Amsoil has very strong detergents and if there is sludge, it will clean it. Thats not bad unless the sludge is keeping a seal from leaking. hope this helps.
