My 90 Civic DX started idling very erratically a while back. The RPMs will go up and down throughout driving... with the engine hot or cold. Any ideas on what it is?? I'm not getting any codes from the ECU so far. My grandpa thought it may be the dashpot, but not sure.

Re: 1990 Civic Erratic Idle Problem
check all vacuum hoses for cracks and leaks
make sure hteres enough coolant. try take off the iacv and clean it and see if that fixes it. try all that and post back up and let me know if that fixes it or not |

cleaned the eacv, coolant is ok, and the hoses are ok... thought i had it fixed but then it threw a code 5 (map)... turns out i had forgot to hook up the vac line from the MAP to the TAS... plugged it back in and the erratic idling started again..
just out of curiosity i unplugged the elec from the TAS and that stopped the erratic idling also. and other ideas?? oh, and the prob happens whether the ac is on or not... |

Re: 1990 Civic Erratic Idle Problem
when you say your coolant is okay was the radiator just full or did you bleed it
