2004 CD/tape player wiring diagram
Anyone have a wiring diagram for the 2004 CD/tape player? I need to tap into the remote wire and a speaker output to hook up an aftermarket amp/sub. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: 2004 CD/tape player wiring diagram
I have the 6 "radio" wiring diagrams for the 2002 LS in PDF format if you would me to e-mail them to you. They are black and white, so all 6 of them only take up 150 kB.
Send me a private message with your e-mail address if you'd like them. Cannot guarantee they are the same for the 2004 model year, but if the wire colors match, there is a good chance it will work for you. If you would prefer I not e-mail them to you, it looks like you could use the yellow wire with a green tracer for the remote turn on (hot in run and Accessory). This wire is at pin 10 of connector 240c. It appears connector 240b at the audio unit would have signals you could use for a subwoofer amplifier. These are the signals that would go to the factory subwoofer amplifier. However, I believe these signals are probably differential at the audio unit and you would need a differential to single-ended converter to use them with an aftermarket amplifier. If you are just planning to use a line level converter you can tap in to the rear speaker wires, which are pins 5 and 6 at connector 240c at the audio unit for right rear (white and gray wires respectively). Assuming Ford used common schematic notation, the gray wire would be the positive and the white wire the negative. For the left rear, the pins are 12 and 13 of the same connector (white/violet and gray/white respectively). Again, I would guess the gray wire with white tracer is the positive terminal for this speaker. I make no promises. -Rod |
