SS/SC Vs. STi (Vid)

Yet another racing vid from street fire.

The SS was surely outmatched, but held it's own.

Edit: It seems that everyone is racing Subies now. I just found this one as well.

Re: SS/SC Vs. STi (Vid)

Not bad...ran right with it from a roll...of course rolls aren't going to be the subie's strong point, but impressive nonetheless.

Re: SS/SC Vs. STi (Vid)

The 2nd video, despite the rantings of the driver, did not have an STi. It's been discussed on other boards. It was a regular WRX.

yeah no way a cobalt would keep with an sti, unless the driver sucked or wasnt racing

Re: SS/SC Vs. STi (Vid)

The dude belongs to the Cobalt forums I'm on. He SAYS that he pulled over and talked to the dude at a gas station. He said it was a stock STi with the wing removed. How true it is, I dunno. Some believe him, others don't.

I havent ran at the track yet with my SC, but the vid in my sig shows a 0-85 run, but that is before i got exhaust and put my timing back to stock safely via a JR boost timing controller. In the form my car is right now, I ran a stock looking wrx from about 20-120 and pulled about a car... From all that i expect to be running at least a 14.0-14.5, but eventually ill make it back to the track for some real results.

Re: SS/SC Vs. STi (Vid)

Why believe the first is an STi, but not the second?

Both Cobalts are stock, as well as both STi's. Supposedly that is. So why would the outcomes be much different. If the second one isn't an STi, then it is the one thats a heavily moddified WRX. My oppinion anyway.

maybe im telling them in the wrong order:

the wingless one, i think is an sti

the other one is a wrx. unless you got some god car, i dont belive a cobalt ss will keep with an sti like that, drivetrain loss or not.

i'll watch the videos again. however i do know somebody that has a normal wrx (04) with the STi appearance package.

Re: SS/SC Vs. STi (Vid)

It's not a god car by any means. But it's 1320 times don't do it's midrange and top end power any justice. When I raced red90gt's 330 stroker stang he was thoroughly impressed with the Cobalt's top end, and this comes from a guy with a 400+ HP 5.0. The Cobalt is much more suited for roll racing and auto-x than drag racing. It's down right sucks from a standstill. But has tons of power all over the board after 20 mph. For a stock 4 banger that is.

As for what this guy raced, I got no clue. We can only make guesses and assumptions. But I'll find one sooner or later and let you guys know the results

I thought he dyno'd at 290 (give or take) to the rear wheels??
Not taking anything from that. I remember reading he needed some minor things to pick that up. Just asking..

Re: SS/SC Vs. STi (Vid)

From what he told me he was around 390 or so to the crank. Maybe a bit more. This is what I recall. Maybe he will stop by to enlighten us.

Edit:
Quote:
I already know he's got 30 more rwhp than i do.
This is what 90red said to me in a private msg a while back. The car he is refering to is my buddies 400 rwhp m3. So this would make his stang around 350-370 rwhp. This is what I gather out of it anyway.
