Gas Pedal
When I first got my 96 jetta the gas pedal was really low and had little pedal push, 1.5 inches of movement at most. I found out that with this much i only got about half open throttle so I decided to take off the plastic stub beneath the pedal which was nice having a lot more movement and throttle opening. It later regressed to its normal state of only half open and I was back at the beginning. So i found out recently that there is an adjustment in the engine on the throttle cable and I adjusted it and it was perfect. The pedal was up where it belonged and had a nice solid feel, as soon as i so much as tap it i have power and it feels like it should. Now it is regressing again and the cable cannot be adjusted and moved up anymore. It now takes about 1/2 of push before i start getting power. I'm really sick of this and I rarely ever take my car to the dealer cause I prefer to do my own work on my car. Any help on this subject would be much appreciated. I want that nice solid feel back with the power always there
Possibly need a new throttle cable??? Thanks John |

First, you very likely need a new cable. When you replace it, be sure to reinstall the black spacer thing under the pedal. It holds down the carpet and prevents wear.

Re: Gas Pedal
Is the metal clip that locks the cable adjuster in place missing or broken?

Re: Gas Pedal
Yeah it is missing so I've made my own lil spacer with piano wire but its still actin up a little. I think I'll just buy a new cable. Anyone know how much it is and if you can install it yourself?
