Buying Used Slicks Question

I was wondering where the best place to buy used slicks would be because i cant afford new ones right now, and as it is, i spin for what seems like an eturnity. its almots as bad as having FWD with these wimpy stock tires

Im looking for used ones right now because i dont really like taking my car to the track much so i dont really need non-street legal tires most of the time. so used ones should probably last me a long time if i rarely use them.

I picked up some Hoosiers on drag lites for $275. They had a few passes on them, but still worked great for me. I found them in my local auto shopper mag.

HEY FLIP, I forgot, I had great luck with used dirt track tires! McCreary soft compound were great! I got them from a friend who raced a dirt track car for $50 for 2. I went to the track a few times with them and drove on the street with them a few times. Don't get caught with them on the street because they don't have a DOT# and be carefull at higher speed with the soft sidewalls (the backend likes to dance alittle, not bad just a little). They do have grooves in them for tred. If you can't find any soft compound you can get medium compound. The soft ones I had hooked almost as good as a set of slicks but I had the benefit of traction on the street if it rained. Good luck!!

dirt tired sound good because if there only used in dirt there probably like almost new, accept dirty i would bet. That sounds cool, ill keep my eye on the auto shopper mags for some of those


oh yeah and i just picked up a pair of (new) MT drag radials a few days ago and they make a world of diference but im definently still in the market for more

You'd be amazed how fast you can wear out a tire on a dirt track. Someday go walk around one after the races, especially if it's a Gumbo track, there will be a layer of rubber on it...

Yeah Flip, 306 is right, that dirt track gets almost as hard as concrete. And the tires are so soft (the soft compound you can squeeze the treads like a sponge) they wear on the dirt track pretty quick. But they are great on the street.
